Evergreen High School’s AP Government & Politics class will represent the state at the "We The People: The Citizen and The Constitution Program" National Championship in Washington D.C., April 25-29, 2014. This will be the first time that our state is represented by a high school outside of King or Pierce County.
This excellent program allows high school students to learn and demonstrate their knowledge and application of the US Constitution to our legal and political system. Students who participate become actively engaged citizens who carry the ideals of civic responsibility and commitment into their adult lives. Program alumni have gone on to work in the White House, State Legislature, US State Department and as assistants to US Senators.
Led by Evergreen teacher Patti McMaster, this energetic, energized and committed group of students have been working since June, through holidays and breaks, studying very hard to develop a deep understanding and appreciation of the principles and values of our legal and political system.
Patti and two of her students recently visted the 18th LD to share their experiences. These students displayed an amazing grasp of our Constitution and the fundamental principles of our legal system. They were engaged and excited to represent Clark County and the entire state of Washington at the National Competition. However, they must raise the entire $30,000 needed for travel and accommodations to participate in April’s championship and they need your help.
