Clark County Democrats Annual Dinner a Success
The Clark County Democrats held their annual fundraiser dinner and auction event on Saturday June 7 at the Vancouver Hilton Hotel. Dozens of items were auctioned off to raise money for the coordinated campaign office, new technology, and operating expenses for the year. Nearly 400 people attended the dinner which featured keynote speaker Oregon congressman Earl Blumenaur who spoke of the need for Portland and Southwest Washington to work together on regional issues and concerns at the federal and local level.
The "Ogden Award", given each year to honor the achievements of a local Democrat was presented by Dan Ogden to local labor leader and longtime community activist Phil Parker, who died earlier this year. Dan's wife and longtime community leader, Val Ogden was also remembered and honored for her many years of public service. Val passed away in April 2014.
The crowd was diverse and included all local Democratic office holders and candidates for congress, state and county offices, several local city council members and both Democrat and Republican community activists. One lucky attendee won the "Heads & Tails" game and the pot of $2,000.
The Imagine Dinner wouldn't have been possible without the many volunteers who helped plan, promote and staff the event and the Vancouver Hilton staff who are represented by local 9 of UNITE HERE.
