18th LD DEMOCRATS HOST PUBLIC FORUM ON THE CHARTER ON THURSDAY FEB 5 AT THREE CREEKS LIBRARY IN SALMON CREEK
The 18th LD Democrats are hosting a forum in Salmon Creek featuring guest speakers Betty Sue Morris and Chuck Green to discuss the future of Clark County's Home Rule Charter. Clark County Voters passed the Charter in November 2014 by almost 10% and the Charter officially went "live" on January 1, 2015.
Most obvious of the changes taking place on January 1st was the renaming of the former County Commissioners to County Councilors. Also happening this year will be the expansion of the newly named "County Council" from three seats to five seats including a new district and a new "at-large" councilor who will chair the council and be elected county-wide.
The other four districts will each have a primary send the top two vote getters to a run-off in the general November election every four years.
But this is just the beginning and there are lots more changes on the way. Come to the forum to get more information on how the most major change to county government in 125 years may impact you and your quality of life in Clark County.
