The Electoral College is a disaster for Democracy" - Donald Trump in 2012.
The Clark County Democrats wish to thank all our hundreds of volunteers, campaign workers and state party coordinated staff for their many months of hard work, dedication and support in this difficult election.
Although we are disappointed with the national results, we are just as disappointed that nearly 50% of eligible voters didn't bother to cast a ballot nation-wide. With Hillary Clinton actually winning the popular vote, similar to Gore in 2000, we believe it may be time to re-examine the credibility of the electoral college in our political system.
Locally, our party worked hard to stay focused on positive campaigning. It's unfortunate that the opposition in many races decided to go low and stay low.
WHERE TO NOW? ... CALL TO ACTION
We look forward to working even harder in the next two years not only to protect our core values but promote a safe and healthy community where minorities, women, LGBTQ and our most at risk citizens are safe and continue to be protected from discrimination and assaults on their rights at the national level.
Please don't lose faith. We urge you to turn your anger and disappointment into action as the fight for our country is just getting started.
Please call our office 254-9116 or email firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to find ways to volunteer and help us move forward.
As for the local races, we will release a statement today after the results give us a clearer picture.
