More waste of time & money on the Clark County Council

Roy Valo

The Clark County Democrats are disappointed once again at the ongoing antics of the County Council which continue to waste taxpayer dollars, resources and time. Councilor Tom Mielke's recent filing of recall petitions against three of his fellow councilors is an absurd publicity stunt designed to take the voters focus off the August 2nd primary election in which Councilor David Madore is facing a challenge from within his own party and a strong Democratic candidate, Tanisha Harris.

Washington state has very strict standards for allowing a recall petition to be activated, including a judicial review for evidence of malfeasance which we believe will not be successful for any of the petitions. By the time it runs it's course, the process will have cost the taxpayers even more money and wasted time that could be better spent by the councilors actually doing their jobs to administer Clark County.

The best solution to ineffective and incompetent councilors is to replace them on election day with candidates who have a commitment to serving the best interests of the public. Clark County voters have an opportunity to do this on August 2nd by voting for Tanisha Harris in District 3 to replace Madore and for Roman Battan in District 4 to replace Mielke.

It's time to take our county back and start the healing process to restore confidence and competence in our county council. It's not only important to replace both Madore and Mielke but to replace them with qualified candidates who are unencumbered by special interest and PAC money. We also need new faces who truly represent the growing diversity of Clark County. The only candidates running for these seats who meet all this criteria are the Democrats Tanisha Harris and Roman Battan.
