Dr. Dan Ogden was often referred to as Mr. Democrat in Clark County during the early 2000’s. On April 28, Dan will be 95 years old.
Dan has had many roles in government and politics. He ran for office, he worked diligently for the Democratic Party, he taught politic science, and he held significant positions in the Federal government.
Dan was married to Val Ogden, a 6-term WA Representative and civic leader, for 67 years until her death in 2014. They were an active and accomplished couple. It’s their name and legacy providing the spirit of the Val & Dan Ogden Democrat of the Year award, given annually by the Clark County Democrats at the fundraiser dinner.
Dan received his PhD in 1949 with his thesis on The Development of Federal Power Policy in the Pacific Northwest. He went on to be a professor of political science at WSU-Pullman and stayed there for 12 years. He took a year’s leave of absence during that tenure to be special consultant to the DNC Chair. He moved on to the Department of Interior as a “recognized specialist in the field of natural resource conservation and hydroelectric power”*.
In recent years Dan served as Chair of the Clark County Democrats, active PCO, and table captain extraordinaire for the Annual Fundraiser Dinner.
Dan is currently living at the Brookdale Retirement Center. Cards can be sent to Dan at 10011 NE 118th Ave, Apt 208.
