City Councilman Bart Hansen andformer City Attorney Ted Gathe had their civic views published Sunday 09/10/17 in The Columbian. They clearly are against the Oil Terminal proposed by the Port of Vancouver. They clarify that the final decision for it is not up to the Governor but can be more easily and directly decided by voting for the Port of Vancouver Commissioner candiate who is opposed to it. Here's a little column by Rex Huppke of the Chicago Tribune published August 23, 2017, and reproduced in The Columbian Sun Aug 27, 2017. It neatly summarizes many of the most recent lies by Trump and skewers him, as well, referring to him as an "infantile madman" - a succinct, usable reference for sure.

The Mooch is gone. His short-lived term as white house Communications Director will give him an important blot on his resume. He probably doesn't care. He was not scary like Trump, but he was even a bigger boor and a total pottie-mouthedembarrasement. Pundits are hoping that his demise will not put the President into a snit of coverups, like a war with North Korea. See article LINK
The annual Clark County Democrats Gala Dinner and Auction went off without a hitch and with the energetic effort of 250+ attendees. It was planned to have a smaller, more fun approach to the dinner with lots of different aspects and that was the way it went down. The venue was charming - a little warm, but not excessive, the speeches were energetic and genuine by Liz Luce, Sen Maria Cantwell, Rich Rogers, Sen Annette Cleveland, and State Chair Tina Podlodowski.
The food was provided by Company Tonight, a Portland catering firm that set up grills outside and provided delicious salmon steaks and flank steaks. Auction participation was very good.
Now it's time for the annual Clark County Fair. We Democrats have a booth this year, as usual, to make contact with frustrated citizens. We have a few 3 hour shifts left to fill and expect there's several of you that would jump at the chance to participate. Click this LINK to go to a web page showing the open times, and a form below to submit your request to be a Democrat at the Fair.
Read the Healthcare column by Eugene Robinson, Washington Post columnist, July 23. In it Eugene points out many salient points about the current Senate kerfufle including' "Obamacare, you will recall, was once Romneycare; it was fashioned after a system Mitt Romney successfully implemented when he was governor of Massachusetts. It is based on ideas originally developed at the conservative Heritage Foundation, ideas the Republican Party once liked — until President Obama embraced them." Good stuff - LINK
Don Orange is having a birthday Party.
Don is running for Port of Vancouver District 1 Port Commissioner. That's the seat left open by the retiring Brian Wolfe. Don's first action will be to stop the building of the nation's biggest oil terminal at the Port. That's not his only platform plank - he's for Port business forward motion all the way - but with the right commodities, and with transparency.

Here's a perky little column from Froma Harrop, columnist for Creators.com, and often published in our local paper; The Columbian.
Here we can see the R's undermining the stability of the program to require insurers to raise prices and create failure to Obamacare: Trump is throwing "monkey wrenches" in the works to create a "crisis" in Obamacare. Read the Article
