Voter contact is the keystone for winning elections. As the chair of the Democratic Party in Clark County, I’m writing to ask if you will help, and to offer a specific plan to get 5,400 more votes for Democrats in Clark County.
We need 270 Voter Contact Volunteers, each with a reasonable and realistic assignment, and I’m asking you to be one.
To take part, please contact our Voter Contact Volunteer Recruiter, Patricia Mayes at [email protected] or (443-804-2036). She will get you signed up and provide you with your list of 10 voters, plus support and training.
We’ll provide you with a list of 10 infrequently voting Democrats who live near you, and ask you to reach out to them by phone or in person at their door, develop a positive relationship over time, and gradually work to ensure they vote in the next elections. If you contact 10 in the first week or two, we’ll offer to give you 20 more, for a total of 30 infrequently voting Democrats. Those 30 will be your responsibility for the next two years, to touch base regularly and maintain a good relationship. We will provide you with support, training, a mentor, and anything else you might need to be successful. If you’re already experienced at this kind of work, we’ll be happy to just stay out of your way and let you do the work.
Start with 10, then move to 30, and just make friends and build real relationships. Then, when it is time to vote, they won’t be getting a sudden “hard sell” from a stranger begging them to vote. They’ll be getting another call from you, who they already know and like, asking them if they’ve remembered to mail in their ballot, like you’ve already been talking about for months.
Voter Contact Volunteers can have the opportunity to move up to Precinct Committee Officer over time, or even become candidates in local elections, since this is excellent practice for becoming a candidate.
In the end, it’s simple. If 20 of your 30 vote, and there are 270 new Voter Contact Volunteers, then that would be 5,400 new votes for Democrats. That is a lot! That could mean 5 or more races being won by the Democrat instead of the Republican.
The stakes are very high these days, and we need to win! Will you please help?
