The Clark County Democrats regret to share that former Clark County resident, PCO, and political activist Drew Griffin lost his heroic battle against cancer this past weekend. Drew supported and contributed to Clark County and Washington State Democratic candidates, campaigns and causes including serving as 3rd Congressional District candidate Jon Haugen’s campaign manager in 2012.

Drew was a tireless activist for LGBTQ rights and was instrumental in securing the passage of Washington’s R-74 which affirmed marriage equality in our state. He performed Clark County’s first same sex marriage in December 2012.

Drew was vital to the success of PFLAG nationally and locally. In addition to helping found our local PFLAG chapter (Columbian Basin), Drew also served as Northwest Regional District Director. Drew moved to King county in 2014, continuing his fight and advocacy for LGBTQ rights, economic, social and racial justice and still remaining an active and vocal supporter of Clark County democratic politics and initiatives.

In addition to his lasting imprint on LGBTQ and Democratic issues in Washington state, Drew leaves a legacy of kindness, compassion and courage. During his final years, Drew selflessly shared his fight against cancer on Social Media giving all of us a straightforward and honest insight into his battle, inspiring hundreds of people on a daily basis.

We’ll miss Drew’s passion, dedication, kindness and positive attitude. Drew was only 47 years old.
